Q & A
Yes, you can. Just make sure you follow it up with a conditioner.
Because purple sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, it's able to instantly neutralise any overly warm, brassy tones in your blonde hair. That's why we've added a touch of purple pigment to this toning shampoo; perfect for refreshing your shade until your next colour appointment.
Using a blue shampoo for blonde and brunette hair works because blue shampoo is made with blue and violet pigments, which bond to the hair, therefore cooling down warm tones, such as orange, and removing brassiness. The same goes for naturally blonde hair: purple shampoo can neutralise yellow tones.
The reason for these pairings is in the colour wheel. Since warm tones for brunette hair are normally orange or red, the opposite colour from orange on the colour wheel is blue. For people with blonde hair, the warm tones are usually yellow, and purple is opposite on the colour wheel from yellow. By having a mix of both purple and blue, you can treat a wider variety of brondes and blondes.
If you have blonde, grey or silver hair, we recommend using the Purple Reign collection. If you are a naturally dark-haired brunette with balayage, ombre or highlights, you better use our blue-toned Bleach Blondes Ice White collection.
Choose one that's packed with hydrating ingredients, so that purple pigment doesn't dry your hair out or leave it feeling parched. We've packed this purple shampoo with hair-kind vitamins to nourish, hydrate and smooth the hair cuticle, so locks still feel luscious (and look fresh) after washing.
If you've overtone your hair and want to remove purple shampoo, make sure you use a clarifying shampoo to give your hair a deep cleanse, it might take a few goes, but this trick should help.
