Stylist Tip
"Great hair in a nutshell"
You should always follow a treatment mask with conditioner. People often ask me why. When you shampoo, you open the cuticles and that allows the coconutty goodness to penetrate deep inside the hair shaft and do its thing! Then you seal in with conditioner, which helps to improve the shine of your hair. I recommend using a treatment like this one at least once a week.

Q & A
It's a huge 'YES' from us. Coconut Oil is hydrating and nourishing; great for restoring lost moisture in hair that needs some extra TLC. But, more than that, it's rich in Lauric Acid, a fatty acid that helps to protect your hair from breakage, and tame frizz and flyaways. It's also quickly and easily absorbed by even the driest of strands, resulting in fast effects, no matter how you use it.
Damaged hair needs a mix of both protein and moisture. You know why the moisture is needed, but what about that dose of protein? Put simply, a protein treatment will work to restructure and strengthen strands. This helps your hair rebuild when daily wear and tear has started to break it down. And this protein can come in many forms, from leave-in conditioners to intensive hair masks. For protein-fuelled protection when styling your hair, use the Lee Stafford Coco Loco Blow & Go Lotion. Then, for weekly nourishment, apply the Coco Loco Coconut Shine Mask Treatment.
Protein and moisture are two very different things, and impact the health of your hair in different ways. So how do you know which one your hair needs at a given moment? If hair is breaking, looking limp and dull, and not soaking up hydration as you'd hoped, it's probably highly porous and in need of protein. If it feels dry and damaged, and drinks in moisturising ingredients like it's thirsty, your hair needs moisture.
Yes – curly hair loves protein. Because those curls are more prone to moisture and nutrient loss, a protein-packed hair routine is needed to strengthen strands from the inside out. You'll know your curls need protein if they seem to be snapping off or breaking more frequently. In this case, use Coconut Oil-infused shampoos, conditioners and masks for deep repair.
You'll know your hair needs a protein hair treatment if it is looking limp and dull, while being prone to breakage and split ends. Another sign is when it doesn't retain moisture well, because there are too many gaps in the cuticle. Protein will work to 'fill' those gaps by improving the structure of strands, so hair holds onto hydration for longer.
