We all know it is important to take care of ourselves. 13th February marks self-love day, so take self-care one step further and have a dedicated self-care day! Here, you will learn what self-care is, why it is important as well as a list of activities you can do for your next self-care day! 

WHAT IS SELF-CARE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? 

Self-care is actions we undertake to help our emotional, mental and physical health. Everyone approaches self-care differently so it’s important to find what is right for you.

Self-care is a powerful way to reset ourselves. The world is chaotic and hectic at the moment so small self-care tasks can keep us calm and grounded. 

WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE A SELF-CARE DAY

Self-care (or self-love) days are a change to reset and recharge. Use it as a time to relax and find a new perspective. 

It’s tempting to indulge in self-care days. How often you schedule in a special self-care day is up to you but scheduling in small tasks everyday means that- in a way- everyday is a self-care day! 

IDEAS FOR THE PERFECT SELF-CARE DAY

  • GET COMFY spend the day in your cosiest pyjamas. If you’re heading out, go for comfy athleisure. 
  • ENJOY A LONG SHOWER OR BATH: a longer shower or bath is perfect for self-care because they can feel really refreshing. Pair your bath with an extended hair care routine: add in your favourite hair mask to take your relaxation to the next level! 
  • GIVE YOURSELF A MASSAGE: we understand that trying to give yourself a back massage will be a little tricky, but head massages are the perfect addition to any self-care day! For the best sensation, use a massage brush to really stimulate hair follicles! 
  • ORGANISE OR DECLUTTER YOUR HOME: it’s hard to feel calm in a cluttered home. Decluttering can have a positive effect on the way you feel about your home- and your life in general! 
  • GRATITUDE: writing a gratitude list can be a great way to end your self-care day. Saying thanks to everything you’ve enjoyed, celebrated or benefitted from will help you stay grounded and look forward to the future.
